Out of Left 1/?
Summary: Warrick and Greg are a happily not-quite-married couple. They are living together and raising their daughter Kayla when something, rather someone comes out of left to disturb their happy little life.
Greg stood in the cozy living room, holding his napping two-year-old daughter. He pressed a kiss to her forehead, before talking quietly. "Were you a good girl for your Auntie Catherine, Kayla?" He looked up, making eye contact with Catherine.
"She was fine Greg."
"Thanks again for watching her. I know we kind of sprung it on you. This was your night off and I’m sure the last thing you wanted to do was baby-sit."
"Like I already told Warrick, it was no problem. Lindsey is at that stage where she’s just realizing her mother isn’t as cool as she once thought. But, Kayla here just ate up all my attention. It was a fun night." She reached over, brushing uncontrollable curls from the little girl’s forehead. "She even declared me ‘the bestest aunt ever.’"
Greg couldn’t stop himself from laughing at that. "Well, when Sara’s your only competition, I don’t think there’s much of a contest."
Catherine just grinned. "I’m still number one. That’s all that matters in the end."
"If you say so." Greg rearranged the heavy body against his waist.
"You should probably get going. You’ve got tall, dark, and handsome waiting for you." Greg couldn’t help grinning at that statement. A year and a half year later and the thought of going home to Warrick still made him smile.
"Yeah, I should probably head out."
Catherine walked Greg to the door. "I’ll see you tomorrow night at work."
"Oh no you won’t. We’ve both got the night off. Big plans, if you know what I mean." Greg wiggled his eyebrows.
"I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know what you mean Greg. I’ll see you whenever you two drag yourselves back to work."
"Well, I’ll see you then. Bye, Catherine." Greg walked out to his SUV. He took the time to buckle Kayla up in her car seat, before getting in himself and pulling away from the curb.
Minutes later he was pulling into his own driveway. He could see Warrick’s Avalanche in the garage. He still had one foot in the SUV, when Warrick appeared at of the other side, unbuckling Kayla and pulling her out her car seat. Unsurprisingly the movement woke Kayla up, not that Warrick seemed to mind at all.
"Hey Kayla girl."
Greg was just happy that she woke up in a good mood. He walked to the other side of the car, shutting the side door, and setting the alarm before addressing Warrick, "you woke her up on purpose, didn’t you?"
"So what if I did?" Warrick looked to Greg. Seeing a pout on the younger man’s face, he couldn’t stop himself from smiling. "Don’t worry. There’s plenty of me to go around."
Greg rolled his eyes. "Pfft, who wants you?" Just then, Kayla reached around Warrick and held her arms out to Greg.
"Oh, I see how it is. Leaving me for him, huh?" Warrick handed his little girl to Greg as they walked inside the house.
"Oh yeah. Who’s number one? That’d be me. Number one Dad. Isn’t that right, K?" She was already distracted though. Her eyes were on the television. Greg set her down and she ran straight for it, slapping her hands on the screen.
"Dad, Dad, Spongebob, please."
Warrick looked at Greg with a lifted eyebrow. "That’s all you, number one Dad."
Greg kept his voice low so only Warrick could hear. "Fuck that. If I have to sit through it, so do you."
"Babe, you like that show as much as Kayla does."
"Whatever, you’re still going to watch it. I don’t know why you bother complaining each time. You can’t say no to both of us."
"You’ve got me wrapped around your little finger don’t you?" Warrick wrapped his arms around Greg’s waist, pressing his body against the younger man’s back.
"Something like that."
"Dad, Spongebob, now."
"Come on, lover boy. We have a show to watch." Greg took one of Warrick’s hands and dragged him toward the couch. He let go to turn on the DVD player and put in the Spongebob DVD, while Warrick settled on the couch, placing his daughter in his lap. Greg got everything started and sat next to Warrick, cuddling against his side, Warrick’s arm thrown around his shoulders.
Author's Notes:It's been for-fucking-ever since I've written any substantial Greg/Warrick! Anywho, this will be a longer story. Seven parts have already been written. I'm guessing it'll end up being about twelve parts total. I also plan on posting once a week.
